United Healthcare Coverage Availability & Fees

A variety of dental plans are available through United Healthcare, and each one comes with a unique set of fees and stipulations. It is important that you review the particulars of your policy so you understand how it may apply in different situations.

In the meantime, here is a general overview of the coverage that is often available through United Healthcare PPO plans:

• Preventive services, such as cleanings and exams, are often up to 100% covered. This benefit usually starts on the first day you hold your policy.
• Basic services, like fillings, may be up to 80% covered. Some plans start out with a lower coverage level, which increases the longer you have your policy.
• Major services, such as crowns and dentures, are up to 50% covered, after any applicable waiting period.

Your plan is also likely to enforce an annual maximum, which is a yearly limit on the amount of money that United Healthcare will pay for approved services. Because our Woodbridge practice is in-network with United Healthcare, we have a contract that controls fees. Therefore, you can expect to get greater value out of your plan when you visit us (as opposed to an out-of-network provider). In some cases, we can even schedule major services across calendar years so you can use two annual maximums rather than just one.
